Get your FREE 7-day Vegetarian Meal Plan from: www.KardenasKitchen.com Plus, you’ll discover the 10 foods NOT to eat on a weight loss diet. Hi, I’m Kardena Pauza with www.kardenaskitchen.com I’m going to show you how to sprout Mung beans today. The first thing to do when you sprout your seeds is to use organic whenever possible. You will get less chemicals in your seeds. I use a sprout jar, but you can use a glass bowl if want to. Pour the beans in so they just cover the bottom of the jar. The reason for this is they will expand quite a bit so you need to leave a lot of room. Add enough water so the beans are just floating in it. Let them sit for 8 12 hours. You can use the sprout lid or just a solid Mason jar lid as well. While they are soaking, make sure the seeds have fresh air to breathe. You can let them soak on the counter, but out of the sun. After they are done, drain the water and refill with some fresh water to rinse them. Just swish the water around and then dump it out. Not all of the water will come out, but thats alright because you want a little moisture with them. Put them back on the counter and out of the sun and let them sit for another 12 hours. Let’s say in the evening you rinse them, then you’ll want to rinse them again in the morning. They will sprout within 2-3 days. Once you see little tails on them, they are done and ready to go. Mung beans have a great amount of protein, amino acids, calcium, iron and potassium. They also have more vitamin C

Kardena. Don`t give up your day job. As a Audio / visual reporter you are really terrible.
Your writing too is atrocious – but par for the course in the semi-literate USA I guess.
10 out of 10 for trying tho` but take lessons or practice and maybe you`ll make it.

Great instruction, you look great too, very healthy. I’m a Fruit/Veggie/Wheatgrass juicer and sprouter. Happy sprouting.

I wish that your camera showed more of the process…I did not see anything when you were talking about spouting sunflower seeds…it would have been nice to see how much water…that is why people use You Tube to learn a technique…

When I buy mung bean sprouts in the store, they are long and thick. Can I grow them like that using this method?? I like them long to use them in my stir fry recipes.

I use a clean tea towel over the opening of the jar and hold it in place using a rubber band.

Great video, it was so easy to understand your instructions and the way you show everything. I was always unsure about how to do it, after I watch this, I went right out and got me a sprouting jar, and now eagerly awaiting them to grow, OMG I am craving some mung bean sprouts!!

What a cool video by such a nice lady. Today I have just started to grow my own mung beans and thanks to your video, I now know what to do.

  20. MichaelnChristine says:

These are tasty. I love ‘em. But lets be realistic, 30g of mung bean sprouts have 1g of protein and fewer vitamins (by 3-6x depending) then lettuce. These aren’t a miracle, they are just tasty.

  21. faylinameir says:

@Rahlan yes and yes, although i find the sprouts tastier without the shells

  22. Rahlan says:

I’ve only sprouted a couple of times and have a question. Can you eat the little green ‘bean covers’ (shells) that covered the original beans? How about the mini- roots?

  23. BethanyAbril says:

Thanks so much for this! I did this for my sons science project it was so quick and easy :) still waiting to see if he got an award but will let you know. Thanks again

  24. hillrunner616 says:

    Thank you for this video!

  25. KardenasKitchen says:

too funny! I knew what you meant. You can sprout them in the jar and allow them to sprout leaves. place them in the sun so they develop chlorophyll (green leaves). They would probably last a couple weeks this ways. I’m not sure about if you wanted to fully plant them. You’ll have to research horticulturists. Sorry! Mung Beans you can buy at just about any grocery store. I buy organic whenever possible.
